Buddhist Circuit
Sarnath, Kushinagar, Shravasti and Kapilvastu — sequenced for real road stages and pilgrimage-group logistics.
The route
The Uttar Pradesh spine of the Buddhist Circuit links Sarnath (the first sermon) outside Varanasi, Kushinagar (the Mahaparinirvana site), Shravasti (the Jetavana monastery) and Kapilvastu, with an onward connection to Bodhgaya in Bihar. Road stages between sites are long and are the true design constraint of this route.
Built for
- Pilgrimage operators serving Buddhist community and monastery groups
- Domestic tour operators packaging Buddhist heritage routes across states
- Group organizers for monastery and sangha travel

Running this circuit
What is the minimum realistic Buddhist Circuit duration?
Six days for the UP core; nine days when the Bodhgaya extension is included. Shorter versions compromise the road stages.
Can monastery groups get vegetarian meal plans?
Yes — vegetarian and monastery-specific meal plans, with prayer-time scheduling built into each day.
